Disappointment
by Horizon

At Camp Horizon, the sun was high,
Swimsuits on, towels dry.
From twenty churches, we'd come to play,
Our hearts all light, our minds at the bay.

We sang and prayed, the day was bright,
Horizon skies, our future light.
But at Pelican Bay, the water was still,
We longed to dive, we longed to chill.

Counselors grinned, with hearts so kind,
But Logan spoke, his voice resigned.
"The pool is closed," he loudly said,
Our hopes, like waves, had come to bed.

With snow cones in handand no splash to make,
We sat in shade, our hearts would break.
Yet still, we smiled, we shared a bite,
Chick-fil-A in hand, we tried to fight.

Tears fell softly, like the summer breeze,
Our dreams of swimming lost with ease.
But in the end, as hearts did mend,
We knew this camp would never end.

For though Pelican Bay was locked away,
The joy we shared would surely stay.
At Horizon Camp, together we’d be,
A family formed, a community free.
