
Expectations for Horizon staff members
As a Horizon staff member, we ask that you agree to conduct yourself following these basic guidelines:

We always try to set the right example in speech, life, dress and conduct

We always teach and stand for God’s truth

We never physically, mentally, or emotionally harm a camper or put a camper in harm’s way
-
We always hug appropriately

We always counsel in public places
-
We never let campers fight or be put in any physical danger
-
We always encourage campers and never use negative nicknames, racial phrases, sexual comments, or offensive or degrading terms
-
We never spiritually harm a camper. Instead we pray and are determined to do everything we can to point them toward Christ.

We humbly serve our campers

We always pray for our campers
When you signed the staff application, you agreed to the following statement: I understand that applying to HORIZON is a servant role. If approved I will, to the best of my ability, serve the students (campers) of HORIZON in a manner that reflects the teaching of Jesus Christ and holds up the Bible as God's Word. I will do my best to be a Godly role model to the students.

If you do not feel you can agree to the things above, please let Monty or John know as soon as possible.

Understanding of Privilege


Your staff application has been approved under the following conditions:

The information on your staff application is true and correct.

You have never been convicted of a felony.

You have disclosed any physical or mental restraints that might limit your ability to work in thisv olunteer role.

You understand fully the responsibility that you take for the care and well-being of our campers.

You understand fully that you must be an example of Christ and should foster the spiritual growth and well-being of our campers.

You understand that we reserve the right to remove you from the camp staff at any time without explanation.

You understand that this is a servant role. A humble and graceful spirit is necessary.

You understand that a violation of any camp policy or rule is grounds for immediate dismissal.
While this has rarely happened in the many years of CampOC or Horizon, The Horizon Board and/or the Camp Director reserve the right to immediately remove you from camp and campus without explanation.
